It used to be that the most recommended ways to bring people into your business–either
customers or distributors–was face to face meetings or cold calling. Both of those
prospecting methods are still being used today. Thanks to the internet, there
are many other ways being used for lead prospecting. Skype is a great way to meet
people from all over the world and it is the focus of this article.

For those who may be living under a rock, Skype is a popular social media
platform that is free to download and use.
It offers many features and options to personalize to suit your needs. It is easy
to communicate on Skype using text messaging or talk in real time
using a headset/speakers and a mic. You can also use Skype
as you would a telephone to make calls around the world.

As mentioned in the opening paragraph, Skype is an effective Prospecting tool
to generate leads for your product or service. One of the first things you will be asked
to do when you are setting up your Skype account is to put together your profile, including
photo and link to your site. Be sure to take time to set this up, it will serve as an
intro to who you are and what you do.

Any person who is in business to make money understands that without a steady stream of
prospects the business will not flourish and is destined to fail. You can approach your
friends and family, but trust me, at some point they will stop answering
the phone or the door when you come calling!

If you truly want to be successful
with your business then you need to get outside your comfort zone and get yourself
known. Just how do you do that? Lots of ways and we will discuss 4
methods to prospect leads to your business or service that can be very beneficial to your
bottom line.

Live Seminars—This is an interesting way to prospect and is often overlooked.
Attend a seminar on a subject that you know will attract people from your
targeted audience. There are often breaks during the seminar which would be a
great time to strike up a conversation with others in attendance and talk about the
seminar and related topics and give out business or ask for business cards from those
you would like to talk with further.

Trade Shows or Fairs– This is a favorite prospecting method for small business owners
and independent professionals. For a fee the business owner can purchase space and
set up a booth or display featuring their product or service. Offering a door prize or raffle
is a great way to get contact information for followup after the show. Offering a Special
promotion to introduce a new product or service is another way to generate leads and

is a great way to meet other professionals and generate prospects for your product or service.

business and grow their prospect list. Usually there is time set aside at each meeting for networking,
so you can introduce yourself and what you do and exchange business cards and offer referrals.

Advertising--ads that propel the reader to take action and are strategically placed where your target
audience will most likely view them is an effective way to generate leads to prospect for your business.

These are just a few of the many ways to prospect leads to your business. There are no free rides
here. It will take consistent effort on your part but the rewards are great to those who make of their
mind and stick with it.


 

Prospecting–Offline Verses Online

An interesting survey would be to see how many
marketers would rather do cold call prospecting for leads
or would rather utilize the many online Social Media Resources
to prospect leads for their product or service.
I would venture to say that prospecting online would win hands down.

Why? Many reasons, but ranking right at the top would be that
it is easier and less confrontational to build a relationship online
than it is to cold call, unsuspecting people at their home. When you call
someone unsolicited the first obstacle to get around
is how in the world you got their info.

By the time you explain that their
name was on a list of people interested in working from home, they have
either hung up on you or demand that you remove their name from your
list and dont call them again. Once in a great while you will find someone
who is receptive to your call and is willing to hear what you have to say.
You are taking a lot of abuse to get to those few.
That is a tough way to build your business or sell your product!

And who got you started with cold calling as THE way to
generate responsive prospects? My guess would be from your upline cause that is what
they were told from their upline and so forth. It is not
like they are trying to intentionally deceive their downline, they just do not know
what else to tell them.

Is there any wonder that people are coming to the internet in groves to build their
businesses or sell their products. With all the resources and tools available online
the marketer is able to prospect thousands of people in a relatively short period of time.
He can then sort and qualify those that he wants to spend time with to build a relationship
and/or put into his pipeline for further sorting. From there he can introduce his business
or product to them.
