I’ve seen a lot of Twitter Tips on increasing followers but this set of ideas struck me as a bit more practical.

8  Ways to Increase Twitter Followers

1. Fill out your Bio as complete as possible, on you Profile Page. People want to see who you are before they choose to follow you. Your bio is the only place you have to tell people who you are and show credibility. Also, your bio is displayed on Twitter’s Suggested Users page, so don’t leave it blank.

2. Add Links to your Twitter profile. Link to your Facebook page, LinkedIn page, blog, etc.

3.  Tweet about your passions in life and #hash tag them. Your followers want Quality content and want to easily find. If others enjoy your content, they will add you.

4  Bring your twitter account into the Physical World. Every time I give a presentation, go to a meeting, have lunch with prospects, I figure out a way to let them know I am on Twitter. Put it on your Business Card.

5. Watch and Follow what the Top Twitter Users tweet. Pay attention to the type of content they sent out and how they talk to their followers.

6. Make sure you Reply to #hash and jump in on the conversation.

7. Post your Pictures, people love pictures and love to Retweet them.

8. Explain to your followers what it means to Retweet and encourage them to Retweet your links. Re-tweeting pushes your @username into foreign social graphs, resulting in clicks back to your profile.
